SOLUS CARB MIX is built on one principle: the science of carbohydrate fuelling settled years ago, and most sports nutrition brands ignored it. The 1:0.8 maltodextrin-to-fructose ratio activates two separate intestinal transporters simultaneously — SGLT1 and GLUT5 — allowing the body to absorb up to 90 grams of carbohydrate per hour. That's 50% more than single-source glucose products.
We made it unflavoured as the default because we believe your gut should determine what you drink, not your palate. No artificial sweeteners, no colours, no caffeine, no amino acids you don't need mid-race. Just clean, fast-absorbing fuel that works in a bottle, a bidon, or mixed into a homemade gel.
For athletes who want flavour, we've added naturally-derived options using real fruit extracts at concentrations that won't cause gastric upset at high doses. The formula doesn't change. Only the flavour does.
Mix 1 scoop (50g) with 500–750ml of water. Shake for 15 seconds until dissolved.
Consume 60–90g of carbohydrates per hour during exercise — 1 to 2 scoops depending on intensity and duration.
Best used during sessions over 90 minutes. Below that threshold, water and a pre-session meal is typically sufficient.
Store in a cool, dry place after opening. Reseal lid tightly. Best consumed within 3 months of opening.
The 1:0.8 ratio is specifically selected to minimise gastrointestinal distress. That said, gut training matters — if you haven't used high-dose carbohydrate fuelling before, start at 30–40g per hour and build up over 3–4 weeks.
SOLUS uses the same peer-reviewed dual-transport ratio. The primary differences are price and transparency — every ingredient is listed, there's no proprietary blend, and it's HASTA certified. Maurten uses a hydrogel matrix; SOLUS doesn't. Most athletes find both work equally well — you shouldn't have to pay a premium for science that's been published for 20 years.
SOLUS CARB MIX is a sports-specific fuel intended for use during exercise. If you manage diabetes, consult your physician or sports dietitian before use. Blood glucose response during high-intensity exercise is highly individual.
Start fuelling at 20–30 minutes into exercise, before glycogen stores begin to deplete. For sessions under 75 minutes, you likely don't need exogenous carbohydrate. For sessions over 90 minutes, consistent fuelling throughout is more effective than playing catch-up late in the effort.
A 1kg tub provides 20 × 50g serves. If you fuel one 3-hour session per week at 90g/hr, that's roughly 5–6 weeks per tub. Training daily? The 2kg Bulk option costs less per serve and cuts order frequency in half.
Yes to both. SOLUS CARB MIX contains no animal products or gluten-containing grains, and is manufactured under allergen management protocols. Full traceability is available through our HASTA batch certificate.

Used this through a full Ironman build. Zero GI issues at 90g/hr, which I've never managed with any other product. The unflavoured version is a game-changer — mix it with anything without killing the taste.
Switched from a well-known competitor. Half the price, same result. Did a 5-hour Gran Fondo on 2 scoops/hr and felt strong at hour 4. Tropical Burst is subtle enough it doesn't get sickly.
Took a few weeks to gut-train up to 80g/hr but the science is clearly there. Power output in the final 45 mins of long rides has improved noticeably. Would be 5 stars with more flavour options.
